Bullying is defined as the unwanted and aggressive behavior amongst aged children in the event of power imbalance. Bullying is a big problem in American schools today, which to some point amounts to shootings and killings. It is imperative the schools and public policymakers to come up with measures for combating this social phenomenon and enhancing the school safety.
1). Involve and integrate parents, families and community members into the school's matters as stakeholder in addressing this problem.
2). Establish clear school policies and goals at the institutional level
3). Sensitize the public on the dangers of bullying and its effects on the young generations through the media and community forums, and allow public participation.
4). The schools should organize events for educating the students on the effects and implications of bullying in schools.
5). Provide the right channels for reporting, enforcing and dealing with the arising issues of bullying should it be reported to the authorities.
6). Have clear strategies for addressing violence in school which includes identifying the culprits or aggressive learners, reporting the matter to the law enforcement authorities
and agencies for legal action in the event of severe harm. In the event of hurts, abuse or human rights violation then the matter should be taken over by the police and courts.
